Rain or Shine…Mostly Rain.
The Nova Brew Fest went great – and I had a terrific time in spite the rain (or maybe because of it). Thanks to the constant precipitation, all the people who came out were there for the love of beer, and there were some good ones to sample. Harpoon Brewing’s Winter Warmer was definitely worth tasting. Who knew nutmeg could taste so good? Then there was Fuel by Capitol City Brewing, great coffee notes made it a good pick-me-up during the wet afternoon. Beer wasn’t the only beverage represented at the festival, though. Woodchuck Cider was there, and I even got to sample an oak aged cider from them that I had never seen in stores before, but I will now be doing my best to track some down. I spent most of my time pulling taps for Legends out of Richmond, a place I frequented when I lived there much more then I would like to admit with my then infant son. If you live in the Richmond area, I highly recommend checking it out around dusk, the view of Richmond from the deck is something to see. By far the highlight of the evening was meeting Tom CIZAUSKAS of “Yours for Good Fermentables” fame. He seemed very open to being on the show, and if we are able to get him I will make sure to give an ample heads up for people to send in questions. Well, now I have to get ready for the “Why is there beer” tasting tomorrow night. Gee – my life is so hard!
Northern Virgina Brewfest
Two days of Beer goodness. The Fall Nova Brewfest is coming, and for $20 in advance, or $25 at the event, it really is good value. How can you say no to over 40 breweries? Hope to see people there.
A new look!
Keep an eye out for the site redesign next week. our “CTO” has been working hard on a more polished page and it should go live next week. We’ve also found out that are first guest will be Mike McCarthy, Director of brewing operation for Capitol City Brewing Company. We will be recording that podcast in late December and posting it in January. Also, I got a lot of positive feed back while working at Capitol City Oktoberfest, not to mention meeting three guys who made the day fly by. I’ll be working at the Fall Nova Brewfest also.
